Outside Scholarships
A variety of scholarships are available from sources outside of Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox University. The Financial Aid team is here to help you find, prioritize, and apply for these external scholarships.
Note: It’s important that you report any outside scholarships to the Financial Aid office.
Outside Scholarships Timeline
- November 1 - OSAC Scholarship Application opens (for Oregon residents)
- December 1 - Donor-Funded Scholarship Application opens for returning students
- December 1 - FAFSA opens
- Febuary 15 - Early Bird deadline for OSAC Scholarships
- February 15 - Early Bird deadline for returning student Donor-Funded Scholarships
- March 1 - Final OSAC Scholarship deadline
- March 1- Donor-Funded Scholarship Application closes for returning students
- May 1 - Donor-Funded Scholarship Application opens for new incoming students
- June 1- Donor-Funded Scholarship Application closes for new incoming students
- Students are notified of scholarship awards
- Report outside aid to the university
- These are average assessments. There are external scholarships with applications that open sooner and/or later than fall and close sooner and/or later than spring.
- Scholarships are typically awarded on an annual basis for the following academic year.
How to Report Outside Scholarships
Watch: How to Report Outside ScholarshipsIt’s critical that you report any outside scholarship(s) to our office. This will allow us to include the anticipated scholarship on your financial aid package and decrease the amount due to Student Accounts at the beginning of the semester.
Helpful tip for Oregon students: We will get a list from OSAC of any state scholarships you win. There is no need to report these.
Outside Scholarships will show as offered on your aid package until the Financial Aid Office receives the check. Once it is received, the outside scholarship will show as offered and accepted on your aid package.
- Click on the Financial Aid tile in your
- Select “Outside Aid”
- If this is the first scholarship you are reporting, then select “Report Outside Aid”
- Report the Award
- Choose external scholarship
- Write in the scholarship name for the Award Description
- Write in the amount of the scholarship
- Select “Submit”
- If you are reporting scholarships after your first award, click the + icon to report additional scholarships.
Receiving Outside Scholarships FAQ
Scholarship checks should be mailed to the following address:

Please instruct the scholarship committees to include your name and Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox University ID number on the check.
If the check is made payable to the university:
- Mail or bring it to the financial aid office
If the check is made payable to you:
- Endorse the back of the check and write "Payable to Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox" then either mail or bring it into the financial aid office.
To receive a copy of an invoice, please contact the student accounts office at studentaccounts@georgefox.edu.
If your scholarship requires proof of enrollment, you can request a proof of enrollment form from our registrar’s office.
If the scholarship requires a needs analysis or your current financial aid package, you can email the form to scholarships@georgefox.edu.
Email finaid@georgefox.edu to request a copy be sent to you or or your donor directly.
Our goal is to process checks within 24 to 48 hours after receiving them; it may take up to a week during high-volume periods.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox’s default policy is all scholarships be equally diveded between the fall term and spring terms, unless documentation received with the scholaship specifies otherwise.
If you would like to have your scholarship applied differently, please have your scholarship committee send a written request to our office at finaid@georgefox.edu.
External scholarships will show as offered on your financial aid package in my.georgefox.edu until the check is received. Once it is received, your aid package will be updated to show the external scholarship as accepted.
All external scholarships are deferred until Sept. 15. If you expect the check to arrive after that date, you will need to submit a scholarship deferral form through our student accounts office.
