Special Student Registration
What does "special student" mean?
"Special student" refers to students who do not intend to enter a degree/certificate program or who plan to enter a degree/certificate program at a later time, but would like to take classes before being formally admitted to a degree/certificate program.Special Student Categories
- High School Special Student
The high school special student program is available to qualified high school students in their junior or senior year. It permits study at Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox in traditional undergraduate coursework while a student completes a high school program.
- Conventional Special Student (Graduate/Undergraduate)
A conventional special student refers to any high school graduate who wishes to take classes without being formally admitted into a program who does not fit into the above three categories.
- Adults 62 Special Student
Any person 62 years of age or older may be eligible to enroll in traditional undergraduate courses in fall and spring term for credit or audit.
- Alumni Audit Special Student
Alumni who have earned a degree from Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox University have the opportunity to audit undergraduate or graduate courses.
Class Selection
Offered courses can be found at . Special students are restricted from taking courses in programs using the cohort model or requiring admission to the major. Also, courses in the following programs do not allow special student registration:
Undergraduate
- Art and Design (ARTS, ARTD, INTD)
Graduate
- Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
- Full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
- Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
Special Student Access
While actively enrolled in university coursework, a special student has access to class attendance, course materials, and required classroom technology. Entrance to class meetings is restricted to students appearing on the official enrollment roster for the class.
A special student is not entitled to access activities, services or resources that are generally available outside of class to admitted students, such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Athletic participation
- Clubs or student groups
- Student leadership positions
- Student events
- Academic advising
- Career services
- Health and counseling services
- Alumni services
- Student housing
- Dining plans
- Student discounts
- Student employment
- The Hadlock Student Center
- The Academic Resource Center, or
- A student ID card
