Professional Development Opportunities
There are several new and existing resources that the committee is actively working on. Read below for how you can be involved and grow personally and professionally!
Professional Development Fund
Interested in learning a new skill for your job or connecting with others outside of Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox to learn new strategies? Attend a seminar or conference to do just that!

Employee Resource Groups
Want to engage with colleages across the university that have similar interests or backgrounds as you? Join an Employee Resource group! We have several groups that meet regularly (weekly, monthly, or quarterly) to create connection, share support, and grow personally together.
Current Employee Resource Groups:
- Working Moms: For those who are mothering while working at Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox (Contact: Megan Fisher).
- Latino/a Affinity: Building community with other Latino/a employees (Contact: Jesse Cetz).
- International Connections: Bringing together staff/faculty who are from countries outside the U.S. or who have lived abroad for a significant period of time (Contact: Kerry Ford).
- Adoptive Families: Providing opportunities for those interested in adoption, waiting families, or families who have grown their family through adoption (Contact: Heather Rollins).
- Vertical Virtuosos: For those interested in rock climbing together in the Hadlock Student Center (Contact: David Martinez).

Nomination Process
Each year, we look to add new members to the Professional Development Committee.
All staff and administrators are invited to nominate co-workers (or themselves) to serve on the Professional Development Committee by filling out each year in late January and early February.
Once nominations close, the committee will contact those nominated to confirm their willingness to serve. Those who accept the nomination to serve on the committee will be added to a ballot and sent to the Professional Development Association for voting in late February.
Additional information for those interested in serving on the commitee:
Purpose of Committee: To promote personal and professional growth for all staff and to encourage communication, fellowship and unity within the Â鶹´«Ã½ Fox community.
Committee members will have the opportunity to:
- Attend monthly committee meetings
- Plan professional learning and personal growth opportunities for staff
- Promote staff recognition and appreciation
- Listen to, and advocate for, concerns and new ideas that are brought to the attention of the committee
- Work with and build relationships with colleagues across the university
Time Commitment: Committee members will devote an average of 3-4 hours per month for committee work. Members are asked to serve a 2-year term on the committee.
Eligibility: Employees must be employed at least .5 FTE or above and have been employed for 6 months to be eligible to serve on the Professional Development Committee.
