Flight from Portland to Frankfurt, Germany Depart Portland International Airport on June 5, taking a direct flight from PDX to Frankfurt, Germany. |
Day 2-4 |
Frankfurt, Germany Kick off your European adventure in Frankfurt, a city that masterfully blends old-world charm with modern sophistication. Begin with a guided tour of the historic Römer Square, where medieval architecture contrasts beautifully with nearby skyscrapers. Dive into Frankfurt’s financial prowess with a visit to the European Central Bank, where you'll gain insight into the heart of European economics. Explore the rich literary legacy of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe at the Goethe House, then enjoy panoramic views of the city from Main Tower. Wrap up your days with strolls along the scenic River Main, sampling local dishes in cozy Apfelwein restaurants, and experiencing the lively energy of this global metropolis. |
Day 5-8 |
Munich, Germany Arrive in Munich with a scenic train ride from Frankfurt, taking in the beautiful German countryside. On Day 1, get a feel for the city by exploring the bustling Marienplatz, home to the famous Glockenspiel and Munich’s historic core. Day 2 dives into the arts, with visits to world-class museums like the Alte Pinakothek or the more modern BMW Museum, celebrating Bavaria’s cultural and industrial achievements. Day 3 takes you out of the city to the storybook Neuschwanstein Castle, nestled in the Bavarian Alps and offering unforgettable views. Wander through the picturesque La Petite France district with its half-timbered houses, winding canals, and quaint cafes. On Day 2, delve into Strasbourg’s role as the symbolic heart of the European Union with a visit to the European Parliament, learning about the EU’s efforts to promote unity and diplomacy.
